In the thirty years I have been taking and making photographs, I have moved from framing reality to creating images that are both surreal and theatrical. The photographic subjects have all existed at some point in time, a captured moment, in the same fashion as seen by the observer; they are not computer generated virtual reality. A frequent theme is the placement or misplacement of passive faceless human figures in a space that makes the human form to appear to be out of context or creates an anomaly.  The silver gel photographs (some toned and tinted) and digital images convey stories that must be interpreted by viewer, and frequently vary with the viewer. Most contain an element of surprise that synergistically works with the central components to spark hidden feelings of melancholy, sadness, awareness, or humor – road-signs for my own inner journey as I attempt to unravel some mystery to which I cannot give a name.
